West Virginia – The Night Of The Hunter (1955)
How well do you know West Virginia? Unless you’ve lived there, probably not much. At the very least, it’s where The Night of the Hunter takes place. It’s about a religious zealot played by Harry Powell who marries women for their money before murdering them with a switchblade. He justifies it by saying it’s for the greater benefit. Don’t you think that’s fascinating?

Many people dismiss comedy as a genre, but there are plenty of funny gems out there. Just look at the Bridesmaids! It features several former Saturday Night Live cast members. This film has restored our faith in chick movies. Melissa McCarthy essentially stole the show, as evidenced by the fact that she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Let’s hope for more female-led comedy like this one in the future.
