Mississippi – O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

In case you didn’t know, this crime comedy is based on Homer’s “The Odyssey.” In truth, the Greek poet is recognized as a writer on IMDb. Three criminals, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, and George Clooney, break free from prison and go on a quest for hidden wealth during the Great Depression. There is, of course, a determined cop after that. The soundtrack is also fantastic.

Missouri – Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)

Judy Garland also played Esther in this picture, in addition to Dorothy. It’s a musical about four sisters preparing to relocate to New York right before the 1904 World’s Fair. Did you know that this film inspired the song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”? It’s interesting to see how popular the song has gotten since then.
